Watercolors, 2007.

Southside Art League, Inc. People’s Choice Award, National Fine Art Exhibition.

On the original painting that is in `LadyLincoln's private collection, Momma included these lyrics:

"As I walk this land of broken dreams
I have visions of many things
Love’s happiness is just an illusion
Filled with sadness and confusion,
What becomes of the broken hearted
Who had love that's now departed?
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
The fruits of love grow all around
But for me they come tumblin’ down.
Every day heartaches grow a little stronger
I can't stand this pain much longer
I walk in shadows
Searching for light
Cold and alone
No comfort in sight,
Hoping and praying for someone to care
Always moving and going to where…

Original artwork by © Carolyn Miller-Schulz 1948-2011. In honor of her memory.

This is brilliant! I'm stunned by its beauty. I have to ask, what technique did you use to produce such an effect? The lines are so crisp!

I wish I could tell you, dearheart. I watched momma create it in bits and pieces, but I was honored to receive the original painting from her. Over the years, she has used several different mediums (paint) and liked to blend them together at times. She was just learning how to master watercolors towards the end of her life -- and I believe this was one of those experimental paintings. I know this much -- she was truly gifted.

Thank you for taking the time to comment here and to support her artwork!

With love,

She certainly was gifted! I hope one day I'll be as wonderful as she was. And I'm sorry for your loss. My grandfather died in 2011 as well, so I understand your pain. I was very close to him.

This is by far one of the most raw, emotionally uninhibited pieces I have seen on this site. It drips of pure heartache and sorrow, hidden behind a stained glass facade... I had gotten this overbearing feeling of loss, and this dark, raw Nine Inch Nails feel from just looking at the piece, but after reading the dedication, everything clicked into place. This is an incredibly heartfelt memorial to who must have been a wonderful person. Whoever they were, I'm certain that you captured their essence, their anima, in this piece.

This truely deserved the DD. Well done, and congratulations.
